Who We Are

GIPELP

Our Beliefs:

WE, the members and staff of the GRASSROOTS INITIATIVE FOR POVERTY ERADICATION AND LIBERATION OF THE POOR firmly and unequivocally believe:

1.    That the ALMIGHTY GOD is the AUTHOR of Heaven and Earth and everything therein including all riches, wealth and treasures that abound therein;

2.    That all riches, wealth and treasures  abound on earth  are created by GOD for the enjoyment of all men irrespective of nationality, birth, race, religion, sex, status, class, strength and personality;

3.    That in lands of so much riches, wealth, treasures, endowments and constitutionally guaranteed fundamental human rights and justice, no single man deserves to lack his daily basic needs and means of livelihood and none deserves unjustifiable violation of his fundamental human rights;

4.    That only those who have positively affected the lives of the poor and needy shall receive the mercy of GOD in this world and in Hereafter and those who pile up their wealth just to be counted among the rich  have tragic retributions prepared for them by GOD and awaiting to host them for eternity;

5.    That it is the most sacred of all sacred duties to put smiles on the faces of the needy, the less privileged, the heartbroken, the downtrodden and all victims of oppression, injustice and discrimination in the world;

6.    That no amount of effort and energy, enthusiasm and commitment, concentration and attention, resoluteness and relentlessness are too much for the sake of liberating and rescuing the poor from the shackles of poverty, abyss of woes and dungeon of pains;

7.    That we have a divine obligation and sacred duty to stand firmly and resolutely and strive fervently and relentlessly for the liberation and redemption of the poor and to set a new order where the poor, like the rich, will not lack the basic needs of life in any part of the world.

Our Pillars:

1. “Those who in charity spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.”
-- ALMIGHTY GOD in the Holy Quran, 2:274

2. ”For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, thou shall open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in the land.” “…and shall surely lend to him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.”
-- ALMIGHTY GOD in the Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 15:11, 8

3. "Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD and HE will repay him for his deed."
-King Solomon in Proverbs 19:17

4. "You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."
-The Lord Jesus Christ in Mark 10:21-22

5. “Do not turn away a poor man…even if all you can give is half a date. If you love the poor and bring them near you…ALLAH will bring you near HIM on the Day of Resurrection.”
---The Noble Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)

6. “There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

7. “No weapon of mass destruction, disease or disaster of the most destructive impact consumes mankind mercilessly like poverty. It poisons good health, destroys peace, fuels war, fertilizes crimes, kills dreams and extinguishes positive aspirations. No plague has such magnitude of casualties as it does. There is therefore a sacred obligation upon us individually and collectively to liberate the poor from its shackles and have its woes consigned into the wastebasket of history.”
--Aminu Kayode Alilu, Founder/President & CEO, GIPELP
